Have you always dreamed of learning to throw on the pottery wheel, but just never had the opportunity? Maybe you have tried pottery a few times and love it, and would like a refresher.
Clark Pottery offers several options for our introductory 5-week class series, that will give you all the foundation skills required to make your own cups and/or bowls, or other functional/decorative pieces.
The entire making cycle will be covered, from centering your clay on the wheel, to opening and controlling your clay, to trimming your work, to glazing your bisqued pieces with food-safe glazes so that you can use them every day.
Wheel-throwing is challenging, but also incredibly relaxing and fun! It's a fantastic way to relieve stress, hone your hand-eye coordination, and make something functional, personal and useful for yourself, or gifts for family and friends.
Lee and Yolande have over 30 years' collective experience in clay, and are patient, compassionate teachers--we also really love the intrinsic beauty of every piece of pottery. Our studio is a no-pressure, no-stress zone. There are no "bad" pots, we promise!!!
Classes are restricted to six people, and each participant will have continuous access to their own Shimpo wheel throughout the duration of each class, so you'll have all the time and space you need to learn and explore.
Classes include a 25lb bag of either white porcelain clay, or dark stoneware clay, firing, and the use of our glazes.
